(Pronounced Ja-VA-lee) this up and coming arranger/composer, singer, and producer of her own Jazz & R&B music has over 30 original Jazz and R&B compositions. Born and raised in Sacramento, California, Jhavali has been singing since the age of five. At the age of 11, she developed a love for writing r&b, jazz, rock, and pop music. Jhavali comes from a musical family and was introduced to r&b and jazz by her mother, father, and uncles. Her first instrument was in her 6th-grade band, which was the clarinet. There she learned to read music, taught by her music teacher coincidentally named Ms. Keys.
She also had a strong interest in playing drums and moved on from clarinet to learning about drums in 6th grade, starting with the snare drum. At the same time, Jhavali developed a strong interest in composing songs using her keyboard. She had a music book from a local music shop and in that book, she would find her passion. She picked a song to play using her Casio keyboard - Frank Sinatra's All Of Me. She re-wrote and re-mixed the song into a Pop Genre using her keyboard and has been creating her own original music ever since.
By the age of 14 Jhavali was transforming the family room into a make-shift recording studio every weekend to make her own tracks using her mother's home stereo equipment. She took an amplifier with a cassette deck and a couple of old boom boxes and would use this to record and make her own instrumental loops. Mom never figured out how she did it!
Jhavali has been heavily influenced musically by Jazz and R&B greats such as Angela Bofill, Anita Baker, The Whispers,The Manhattans the late James Ingram, Gregory Hines, Michael Jackson, Michael McDonald, Cameo, Chaka Khan, Lionel Richie, Sheila E., Prince, the late Kashif, Michael Jackson, Teena Marie, Mary J. She brings raw and natural talent. But in order to reach her goal, which is to spend some time on the music scene as an artist, Jhavali continues to learn music production in conjunction with composing and releasing music.
